Oman’s tech regulators are currently taking a close look at how kids use social media, sparked by recent studies showing that these platforms can sometimes do more harm than good. Eng. Omar Al Ismaili, the head of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), views this as a necessary move to protect children’s digital wellbeing as online safety becomes a bigger concern worldwide.
The TRA isn't just making these rules behind closed doors; they plan to sit down with the public and various experts to hear what people actually think. They’re also studying how other countries handle these issues and intend to work directly with internet providers and tech companies to keep a closer eye on things. We can expect to see their official plan and new guidelines ready by the end of September.
