Within the mobile market, consumer preferences continue migrating toward post-paid contractual plans and automated smart machine connectivity:
- Active Postpaid Subscriptions: Surged 6.8% year-on-year to reach 1,326,014 active lines by the end of July 2026.
- Prepaid Mobile Subscriptions: Experienced a slight contraction, dropping 2.6% to 5,394,199 active users.
- Internet of Things (IoT) Connectivity: Posted a robust 9.3% increase, expanding to 1,715,207 subscriptions across industrial, municipal, and commercial applications.
High-Speed Fiber and Satellite Internet Surge Amid Legacy Tech Decline
In the fixed internet domain, fiber-optic connections for residential homes and commercial establishments expanded by 6.4% to reach 366,686 subscriptions. Conversely, legacy and fixed wireless technologies recorded notable drops; fixed 5G subscriptions fell 3.1% to 209,796, fixed 4G dropped sharply by 69.1% to 5,333, and Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) connections declined 21.4% to 8,677. Strikingly, satellite internet registered the highest percentage growth among all fixed technologies, surging 148.1% to 1,871 subscriptions, reflecting enhanced coverage in remote regions.

Oman's fixed-line telephony market maintained subtle stability, with active fixed-line subscriptions edging up 0.5% to 441,306. To support the surging demand for high-speed cloud computing, digital services, and streaming media, the Sultanate's total international internet capacity expanded by a remarkable 31.8%. Total international bandwidth reached 5,382,003 megabits per second (Mbps) by the end of July 2026, reinforcing the nation's digital backbone.
